Annual Camps 2023

During the month of January, the Orthodox Girls and Boys Groups (Ομάδες) of Sydney held their annual Camps at Vision Valley, Arcadia, two hours north of Sydney from Monday 9th to Friday 13th, and Monday 16th to Saturday 21st, respectively. The highlight of both Camps was the visit of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios, accompanied by the Chancellor of the Archdiocese Very Rev. Fr Christophoros at the girls camp, and His Grace Bishop Silouan of Sinope at the boys camp. Synthema 2022 – “Take courage, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33)

On Sunday 2 January, 2022, the Synthema (motto or slogan) of the Greek Orthodox Christian Society for 2022 was unveiled. It was presented at its premises in Kingsgrove, first in Greek at 2:30pm and in English at 4pm. The English talk was also streamed live on YouTube, where it is available to be viewed. 2021 Seminar Series – Very Rev Fr Dimitri Kokkinos: “Comfort one another” – Taking on the suffering of others and the power of prayer

2021 Seminar Series: Bishop Silouan of Sinope – Inner Spiritual Life

On Saturday 16 October, within the 2021 Seminar Series hosted by the Greek Orthodox Christian Society on the theme. “O God, You are my protector, Your mercy shall go before me” (Psalm 58: 10-11), His Grace Bishop Silouan of Sinope, Archepiscopal Vicar of South Australia, gave a seminar on the ‘Inner Spiritual Life’ with a focus on the life and teachings on St Nektarios of Pentapolis. 2021 Seminar Series: Fr Anastasios Bozikis – Kollyva & Communion: An 18th Century Crisis on Mt Athos

On Saturday the 9th of October at 8 pm, the Very Reverend Father Anastasios Bozikis, Parish Priest at St Nektarios in Wollongong and Lecturer at St Andrew’s Greek Orthodox Theological College, conducted the fourth seminar in the Greek Orthodox Christian Society’s 2021 Seminar Series via Zoom.
